Bio

Dr. Anthony Bain is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Windsor. Dr. Bain completed his PhD at the University of Colorado Boulder. He completed his MSc in Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa, where he also completed his BSc in Health Sciences.

The broad aim of Dr. Bain’s research program is to partition the mechanisms responsible for vascular endothelial dysfunction leading to cardio and cerebral vascular events - the leading cause of death globally. To better understand basic vascular function in humans, a secondary facet of Dr. Bain’s research program is determining how the peripheral and cerebral vasculature cope and adapt to extreme environmental stressors, such us heat stress and hypoxemia. This latter aspect has taken Dr. Bain’s research program across the globe with studies in high altitude natives (Andeans), as well as in professional breath hold divers from Croatia.
