Jeff Casey, a prominent member of the Windsor-Essex Community and a University of Windsor Alumnus, was awarded the 2018 Ambassadors of Hope award for his on-going commitment to cancer research. At the age of 33, Jeff was diagnosed with follicular non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He underwent 5 months of treatment at the Windsor Regional Cancer Program before entering remission. Jeff has been cancer free for over 10 years! 

 

Jeff experienced firsthand the importance of having the best healthcare professionals and treatments available in your own community. Hdevotes his time to bridging the gap between cancer researchers, doctors, and our community in WindsorHis mission is to ensure local researchers receive adequate funding to grow cancer research in Windsor-Essex, offering more cutting-edge diagnostics and treatments to people in our region. Jeff takes his role as an Ambassador of Hope seriously. After receiving the award, Jeff organized a committee and created the Play for a Cure: Pro Am Hockey Tournamentwhich brought together local hockey enthusiasts to raise money for cancer research and play alongside retired NHL players. In the first year, the tournament exceeded all expectations and raised over $280,000 dollars. 

 

Jeff is committed to our community and leads by example. He is currently an Ambassador for the Canadian Mental Health Association – Windsor-Essex County Chapter and is the owner/publisher of Neighbur. We appreciate Jeff Casey for his commitment to the health of our community and especially his dedication to the advancement of local cancer research.
