Dr. Scott Harroun is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Windsor. He was previously a Banting Postdoctoral Fellow in Engineering Physics at Polytechnique Montréal. He earned his PhD in Chemistry from the Université de Montréal and his MSc in Applied Science and BSc in Chemistry from Saint Mary's Univeristy.
His research focuses on developing nanoscale biosensors for biomedical diagnostics and studying biochemical processes. His work integrates DNA, proteins, plasmonic nanoparticles, and fluorescent molecules to detect disease biomarkers and characterize biomolecular interactions. The main techniques applied in his lab are fluorescence spectroscopy and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy.
