This project aims to better understand how various determinants, such as social, biological, environmental, and healthcare system factors, contribute to health outcomes across Canada. By conducting a comprehensive systematic review of global models, the research will assess how these determinants are measured, quantified, and applied in public health contexts. The findings will serve as a foundation to build a validated, Canadian-specific framework for informing policy and prioritizing health investments. This evidence-based model will support health equity and help ensure resources are directed toward the most impactful areas.

The project will generate critical evidence to guide policy and resource allocation by identifying how different determinants influence population health. Communities facing structural inequities, including Indigenous, racialized, and LGBTQ populations, stand to benefit from more targeted and effective public health interventions.
