core principal researcher
Dr. Panayotis (Otis) Vacratsis is Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Windsor. He completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Michigan State University (2001), and was a NIH Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Jack Dixon at the University of Michigan (2001-2003). The Vacratsis laboratory integrates biological mass spectrometry and other proteomic techniques with traditional biochemistry and molecular biology methods to characterize poorly understood members of the protein tyrosine phosphatase family predicted to function in processes such as cellular growth, cell survival, and neuromuscular signaling.
