Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a leading cause of vision loss, but it can be difficult to predict which patients will experience the greatest decline in eyesight. This project will use artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze detailed eye scans and patient information, such as age, smoking history, and overall health, to identify factors linked to worsening vision. By improving the ability to predict disease progression, the study aims to help clinicians identify high-risk patients earlier and provide more personalized monitoring and treatment.

This work has the potential to reduce uncertainty for patients, improve efficiency of eye‑care services, and lay the foundation for AI‑supported tools that strengthen vision care across an aging population.
