Purpose of the Study
While social media, online messaging, and dating apps can provide spaces for those of sexual minority status to find romantic or sexual partners and promote fulfilling social engagements, they are also spaces where harmful sexual acts like harassment and coercion occur, where intimate images are taken and shared without consent, and where people are surveyed or stalked without their knowledge or permission. This is known as technology-facilitated sexual violence (TFSV).
The results of this study will help to fill a critical gap in the current body of research. There has yet to be any work that focuses on the context in which TFSV and sexual minority men specifically. The researcher hopes to use the results of this study to provide a basis for future exploration of how sexual minority men experience and are impacted by TFSV. You may not directly benefit from participating in this study, but information gathered might provide benefits to society as a whole through promoting a better understanding of TFSV specifically related to sexual minority men.
