People from different cultural backgrounds may view memory changes and other early signs of cognitive decline in different ways. This project will explore how culture, language, and personal beliefs influence how South Asian and Southeast Asian older adults in Canada recognize memory concerns and decide
whether to seek help. Using surveys and participant feedback, researchers will compare these experiences with those of White older adults to better understand how people respond to early cognitive changes. The findings may help improve awareness, assessment, and support for people experiencing cognitive concerns.
This project will help identify culturally appropriate ways to discuss memory concerns, encourage help-seeking, and support healthy aging in diverse communities.
