Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) affects over 15% of adults in Windsor-Essex, one of the highest rates in Ontario, and places a major burden on both individuals and the healthcare system. Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) is the gold standard for supporting individuals with chronic respiratory conditions, yet access, wait times, and program completion remain persistent challenges. This project will evaluate Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare’s PR program by collecting feedback from patients, caregivers, and staff, and comparing existing care processes to Canadian quality standards. Findings will guide improvements to ensure the program delivers the most effective and accessible care possible to those living with COPD in our region.
This project will identify key strengths and gaps in local Pulmonary Rehabilitation services to enhance patient care, reduce program attrition, and align care with national standards. By integrating patient and provider perspectives, the project will also inform best practices across the province and contribute to improved outcomes for those living with chronic lung disease.
