Introduction to R

R‌ ‌is‌ ‌an‌ ‌open-source,‌ ‌widely‌ ‌used,‌ ‌and‌ ‌increasingly‌ ‌popular‌ ‌tool‌ ‌for‌ ‌statistical‌ ‌analysis,‌ ‌text‌ ‌mining,‌ ‌geospatial‌ ‌analysis,‌ ‌modelling,‌ ‌and‌ ‌a‌ ‌growing‌ ‌number‌ ‌of‌ ‌other‌ ‌applications.‌ ‌No‌ ‌prior‌ ‌knowledge‌ ‌is‌ ‌required.‌ ‌This‌ ‌workshop‌ ‌will‌ ‌build‌ ‌the‌ ‌foundation‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌subsequent‌ ‌Academic‌ ‌Data‌ ‌&‌ ‌Statistical‌ ‌Manipulation‌ ‌workshops‌ ‌for‌ ‌dplyr‌ ‌(data‌ ‌cleaning)‌ ‌and‌ ‌data‌ ‌visualization‌ ‌(ggplot2).‌ ‌In‌ ‌this‌ ‌workshop‌ ‌you‌ ‌will‌ ‌learn‌ ‌the‌ ‌R‌ ‌environment‌ ‌(directories,‌ ‌workspace,‌ ‌scripts,‌ ‌and‌ ‌packages),‌ ‌learn‌ ‌simple‌ ‌commands‌ ‌to‌ ‌get‌ ‌you‌ ‌started,‌ ‌understand‌ ‌data‌ ‌structures‌ ‌(vector,‌ ‌matrix,‌ ‌data‌ ‌frames,‌ ‌lists),‌ ‌and‌ ‌learn‌ ‌how‌ ‌to‌ ‌use‌ ‌basic‌ ‌data‌ ‌tools‌ ‌(built-in‌ ‌statistical‌ ‌packages).‌ ‌

Requirements: Participants need to have the latest versions of R and RStudio installed.

Wednesday February 10 from 12:00-1:00pm
