The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in increased mental health challenges and substance-related harms for many Canadians. To support the immediate health service needs, CIHR and partners have funded more than 100 research projects, including 45 through the COVID-19 and Mental Health/ Substance Use Knowledge Synthesis funding opportunity. Join Dr. Weiss as he discusses the CMH Initiative and highlights key findings and cross-cutting themes that have emerged so far through this critical research.
Dr. Samuel Weiss is the Scientific Director of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction (CIHR-INMHA) and leader of CIHR’s COVID-19 and Mental Health (CMH) Initiative. He works with the Canadian neurosciences, mental health, and addiction communities to identify research priorities, develop research funding opportunities, build partnerships, and translate research evidence into policy and practice to improve the health of Canadians and other people around the world.
