Volunteer group receives PPE material donations

Jul 17, 2020

Rebecca Rudman, one of the founders of the Windsor Essex Sewing Force,
has been stitching masks during the COVID-19 pandemic and giving
them away.

The City of Windsor recently made contributions to the Windsor Essex Sewing Force (WESF) that will help get thousands of masks to the region’s most vulnerable and at-risk people.

The commitment includes donation drop-off and storage at the WFCU Centre, 3D printed sewing tools, and a fabric, thread and elastic donation worth over $10,000.

WESF is a grass-roots, volunteer network, which has provided more than 16,000 homemade protective items, masks and caps to healthcare workers. Its volunteers have contributed their time and more than $120,000 of their own money and resources.
