The purpose of this study is to better understand emotions and emotion regulation as well as their effects on mental health. Both positive and negative emotions contribute to our mental health. However, when emotions become distressing for us, we can sometimes experience emotional difficulties that affect our mental health even though we my try to change those distressing emotions.
This relationship between emotional experiences and mental health is not entirely understood because of the way emotion dysregulation is typically measured. In the questionnaire package you will be asked some demographic questions, questions about your emotional experiences in day-to-day life, and questions about your mental health.
This study is looking for participants that meet the following criteria:
• Ages 18 and up
• Fluent in English (can read, write, and comprehend English language)
• Able to provide autonomous informed consent
• Resident of Ontario
• Willing to answer a set of questionnaires that may take up to 40 minutes
• Not be registered on SONA for the Psychology Department Participant Pool
