From a global perspective, the primary healthcare focus throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has been to rapidly adapt existing resources, and acquire new ones, to most optimally care for patients and to minimize the virus’ spread. From these efforts, data has been, and continues to be, generated equally as rapidly, with limited resources to exploit it to its full capacity. The organization, analysis, and user-friendly dissemination of this data should be conducted in order to provide decision makers with accurate, up-to-date, and relevant metrics required to inform current and future patient care and virus control measures (Lipsitch et al. 2020 Defining the Epidemiology of Covid-19 – Studies Needed). The proposed project will develop an automated database repository and reporting dashboard to generate and disseminate key epidemiological metrics requested by healthcare professionals and decision makers in order to most optimally care for their patients, control virus spread, and prepare for future similar scenarios. The project outcomes will assist Healthcare providers and decision makers to better understand the past, current, and future COVID-19 epidemiological trends and resource requirements and will thus be able to make more informed decisions regarding patient health and public health and safety with respect to virus control.
