Study seeking to identify barriers to health research

A local medical student is leading a study to identify barriers to involvement in conducting health research and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Justin Senecal, a student at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry – Windsor Campus and a member of the WE-Spark Health Institute, is recruiting clinicians and researchers from throughout Windsor-Essex county to complete a brief questionnaire.

He is working with adjunct professor of science Indryas Woldie, a medical oncologist at Windsor Regional Hospital. They hope to use the survey results to identify ways to positively contribute to, and elevate the research culture across Windsor-Essex.

“Translational research is a research ideology that takes a multidisciplinary approach to convert scientific discoveries into clinical changes” says Senecal. “Participants do not have to be currently involved in research to participate, nor have to work in healthcare. We want to include the views of a wide variety of professionals to reflect the multidisciplinary nature of this type of research.”
